“QUITO was the first city in South America to gain its independence from Spain. I wanted to pay tribute to Quito, Luz de América, a neon-based work by Ecuadorian artist Mauricio Bueno that represents the city and its surrounding mountains. This is a study for an installation piece where I re-illuminated Bueno’s work in a museum, using stolen light from the street.”

Rodolfo Kronfle is Ecuador's most influential art critic, historian and independent curator. He is the creator and editor of Rio Revuelto, a prominent art blog that has been providing insight to Ecuador's contemporary art scene for almost 15 years. For several years, Rodolfo wrote a weekly art column for one of Ecuador's largest newspapers El Universo. He has curated several exhibitions across Latin America and the United States, most notably "Pasado Imperfecto," a 2011 travelling group exhibition focused on Ecuadorian video art. In 2012, Rodolfo published the book Historia(s) en el arte contemporáneo del Ecuador 1998-2009.
