“A few years ago, I went on a research trip to Wadi Rum, Jordan. Also known as The Valley of the Moon, it’s a place where I felt very much at home. One day, a sand storm started and everybody ran away. I remember looking around and seeing this tree standing alone in the middle of the desert. I just stood in front of it, as if I was doing yoga with a camera in my hands, connecting with the tree during the strong sand storm.”
