“I CRASHED a super posh, commercial art event called ‘Post it’ in Cuba. I decided to paint my face white, straighten my hair, put on a suit, and walk around with a living rabbit. I had planned this big, spectacular thing: I was going to rip the rabbit’s head off at the end of the evening but, somehow, it didn’t feel right. The rabbit had to live. There’s an artist named Joseph Beuys who did this performance where he talks for hours with a dead hare explaining to it what art is. I also see the rabbit as a symbol of fashion, of sexuality, like Playboy, but also something cute, super light and vulnerable.”
