“I WAS THINKING of the ‘red’ man as the odd man out, or the nucleus, in a way. And then, I thought of aboriginal people being corralled by white people into reserves and later residential schools. It also speaks to the whole concept of power in numbers and liminal space. This work is tongue and cheek, basically the red stripes have an odd number of rows while the white stripes have an even number… in the end count, odd gets even.”
